Hazmat Training & Information Resources

Many of our clients engage in transportation of dangerous goods.  Here’s a handy list of training and information resources to help you.

List of Resources

PHMSA –Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration

This is the agency in the US responsible for administering Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations.  This is a great resource for news and information.

CANUTEC – The Canadian Transport Emergency Center –

CANUTEC was established in 1979 and is one of the major safety programs Transport Canada delivers to promote the safe movement of people and goods throughout Canada.  They not only provide emergency response services like providing information about how to deal with an incident, but they can also help you with general TDG questions and are a great resource.

CHEMTREC

Similar to CANUTEC, but US based, they serve as a round-the-clock resource for obtaining immediate critical response information for incidents involving hazardous materials and dangerous goods.

TDGER

This is a great site put together by the great people at the Canadian Association for Chemical Distributors (CACD).  It’s an awesome site for hazard information about various dangerous goods and information for first responders.

CANUTEC Links Page

You can find links here to pretty much everything you want to find, from information about TDG to, lists of first responders, to protective equipment.  This is a great resource list.

FMCSA “How to Comply with Federal Hazardous Materials Regulations”

A great resource that breaks down 49 CFR Parts 100-185 into much clearer and understandable tables and instructions with most of the legal jargon cut out.

PHMSA

Complete Course – You can download a complete course in meeting DOT regulations complete with instructors guides, student guides and powerpoint presentations.  It’s all free!  You can also purchase a CD Rom of the material.

Chemical Transportation Blog

Of course our own blog is a great resource for chemical transportation news and information.
