DSN Celebrates 20 Years
Mississauga, ON - Direct Service Network Ltd. and DSN Express Inc. celebrate 20 years in the transportation industry August 15, 2008. Back in 1988 DSN started as a division of Glengarry Transport and was purchased by Doug Kimmerly and Michael Frith in August 1988. Doug and Mike ran the business together until Doug purchased Michael's share of the company. Today, DSN has grown beyond the traditional transportation brokerage operation that was its beginnings. Over the year's DSN has operated a Warehousing division, transported Truckload and LTL shipments between Canada and the United States, and currently transport Truckload and LTL shipments within the US and Canada as well. Our future plans include offering international air and ocean shipments.
While DSN has always moved a wide range of commodities via truck. Moving chemicals and HAZMAT has always been a specialty of DSN. From early on in DSN's history, Rhodia Canada and Rhodia, Inc. were a large part of DSN's business. Rhodia's commitment to Responsible Care, a safety program sponsored by the Canadian Chemical Producer's Association, has always pushed DSN in the right direction. Moving chemicals both safely, and on time. DSN owes a special thanks both to Rhodia and the CCPA for helping develop our systems over the years.
Doug Kimmerly, President of DSN commented that, "the last 20 years can be summed up in our Values. Over the last few years DSN has worked hard at defining the values that are important to ensure growth and customer satisfaction in the years to come. DSN has really had a cultural shift in the last few years. Our management style has been focused on values instead of rules, on coaching and development instead of training. By moving from a rules based management system to a values based, this gives our people the autonomy they need to make the right decisions every day and empowers them to solve problems and keep our customers happy."
